#FreshmanFocus is a series of stories on incoming students at the University of South Alabama.

Logan Collins is an inch taller than her twin sister. She鈥檚 right-handed. And her hair is a little lighter and parted to the side.

Mallorie Collins has a dimple in her right cheek. She鈥檚 left-handed. And her hair is a little darker and parted down the middle.

People at the 新澳门六合彩开奖记录 still can鈥檛 tell them apart. They get their names wrong half the time. Part of the confusion is that the sisters are almost always together.

The Collins twins live in the same residence hall suite. They鈥檙e majoring in mechanical engineering and going to the same classes at the same times. They also start each other鈥檚 stories and finish each other鈥檚 sentences.

鈥淲hen I got blood drawn,鈥� Mallorie said, 鈥渟he passed out.鈥�

鈥淲e鈥檙e very different,鈥� Logan said. 鈥淚 like to be on time, and she鈥檚 always running late. My room is really neat 鈥撯��

鈥淎nd my room is a wreck,鈥� Mallorie said. 鈥淐ompletely different.鈥�

Except when they鈥檙e the same.

鈥淲e think so much alike 鈥� we鈥檒l say the same thing at the same time, all the time,鈥� Mallorie said. 鈥淲e used to wear the same clothes, but different colors. We didn鈥檛 want to match, but we liked the same things.鈥�

Both of them have been competitive cheerleaders since they were 4 years old. At Satsuma High School, they were both honor students who enjoyed math and science. They both decided to attend South, live on campus, major in engineering, try out for the squad, and rush the same sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi.

鈥淲e鈥檙e inseparable,鈥� Logan said. 鈥淏est friends,鈥� Mallorie said. 鈥淲e do everything together,鈥� Logan said. 鈥淭ogether, the two of us,鈥� Mallorie said.

What鈥檚 your favorite spot at South?

Mallorie: 鈥淭he football stadium, for sure. That first game was very intense, the best ever.鈥� Logan: 鈥淲e鈥檙e from a really small school, so maybe 800 people would come to our games. Out here, knowing there were 20,000 people watching us, it was crazy. I was shaking.鈥�

Cheerleading can be a dangerous sport. Have you had many injuries?

Mallorie: 鈥淥nce, years ago, I was doing a standing back tuck 鈥� Logan was spotting me 鈥� and I broke my left pinkie. It plunged right into the ground.鈥� Logan: 鈥淚 was not doing my job.鈥�

Any hidden talents?

Logan: 鈥淚 can play the guitar a little bit. I know two songs.鈥� Mallorie: 鈥淪he can play 鈥橲weet Home Alabama鈥� and 鈥楾ennessee Whiskey鈥� by Chris Stapleton.鈥欌�� Logan: 鈥淚 like to think I can sing, but I can鈥檛.鈥� Mallorie: 鈥淣o, she can鈥檛.鈥�

How did you choose mechanical engineering?

鈥淢allorie: 鈥淚 thought about doing math and becoming a teacher and a cheerleading coach.鈥� Logan: 鈥淔iguring out math problems, or physics problems, that鈥檚 what I enjoy. But I wanted to do more than math. Maybe design things, or make the world a better place.鈥�

How often do you go home to Satsuma?

Logan: 鈥淲hen we can, my dad cooks for us.鈥� 鈥淢allorie: 鈥淭hat鈥檚 the reason we go home.鈥� Logan: 鈥淗e鈥檚 the best cook in the world.鈥� Mallorie: 鈥淚t鈥檚 true.鈥�

You said you鈥檙e 鈥榲ery country.鈥� How so?   

Logan: 鈥淲e like country music, and we go hunting and fishing. My first deer, I killed him when I was 7 years old. He was a five-point deer.鈥� Mallorie: 鈥淚t was a four-point. That fifth point was this tiny little thing.鈥� Logan: 鈥淏ut it still counts.鈥�

What about going to Mobile?

Mallorie: 鈥淲e all like to go downtown and get something to eat. We ride scooters and get beignets. We love beignets.鈥�

What鈥檚 your social media presence?

Logan: 鈥淚鈥檓 on TikTok, and I dance and cheer. I鈥檝e got 19,000 followers.鈥� Mallorie: 鈥淪he always wants me to make TikTok videos with her. Every day, she鈥檚 like, 鈥楥ome dance with me.鈥欌��
